We’re your Montana Internet company

If you’re old enough to remember the ‘90s, you probably remember the wild west days of the internet: the screeching sound of dial-up internet that led to the wonders of GeoCities and the Hampster Dance. We sure do—MontanaSky opened its doors in 1993 when company founder Frederick Weber realized that the internet was going to change the world.

As technology continued to evolve, so did MontanaSky. We built out our SkyConnect network, allowing rural homes to easily connect to strong, reliable internet. Then the future of the internet became fiber-optics. We partnered with the Health Information Exchange of Montana, providing a critical funding match to this project—which provides vital connections between hospital systems—as well as ongoing maintenance and support.
This allowed us to develop a robust fiber-optic network with routes stretching to Spokane, Missoula, and Calgary. We’re now expanding fiber’s superior technology to home users with FiberConnectTM, the fastest internet Montana’s ever seen.

We were one of the first dial-up internet service providers in northwest Montana and as the internet evolved, so did we. Fred worked closely with the local phone companies and MontanaSky became one of the first to offer the next step in internet technology, DSL service, and quickly became the technology partner for many Montana businesses and government agencies, as well as thousands of local families.

We care about our communities

We’re proud to have provided SkyConnect internet access to extremely remote locations which previously only had access to turtle-slow DSL, changing the lives of thousands of our rural customers. But MontanaSky doesn’t just offer internet connectivity—we’re emotionally connected to the wonderful places we live and work, resulting in great partnerships like these:

SPONSORING LOCAL EVENTS

We routinely donate time, money, and connectivity to community organizations such as schools, our local Chambers of Commerce, and our local sports teams. Our varied charitable works have helped put on events like the Columbia Falls Clover Fest 5K, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce Annual Growth Summit, and the Bigfork Rodeo.

PROVIDING FREE INTERNET

We provide free internet and phone to Bad Rock Volunteer Fire Department.

FEDERAL AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM

Our participation in this federal program provides no-and-low cost internet service to qualifying households in the areas we serve.
